The Sydney Sound Technology Research group is looking for a self-motivated, highly talented individual with in-depth understanding of electro-acoustics and digital signal processing as applied to audio.
Responsibilities:
Candidates will collaborate with other members of the international Sound Technology team to expand core knowledge in loudspeakers and create new digital audio signal processing algorithms and systems for consumer and professional products.
Specific areas of investigation include characterizing the performance of loudspeakers for and in televisions and portable devices, characterizing the interactions between these loudspeakers and Dolby signal processing technologies and collaborating on hardware and signal processing solutions.
Work is performed in a small collaborative team environment involving interaction with internal groups and external users of the target technology.
This position will include short term directed research, longer term speculative research, as well as the opportunity to develop and propose independent ideas for further investigation.
Qualifications:
Key Requirements: Candidates MUST have these skills or background:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, acoustics, computer science, mathematics or other physical scientific discipline and 6 years relevant experience, or Masters degree and 5 years experience, or PhD in electrical engineering and 3 years experience.
- Proficient in advanced theory and application of digital signal processing.
- Proficient in acoustic and electrical measurements.
- Proficient in C/C++ language programming.
- Experience in the development and/or integration of loudspeakers into consumer products.
- Demonstrated ability to create valuable signal processing technologies in the form of technical papers, products, or patents.
- Expertise in a minimum of 2 or more of the following:
- psychoacoustics / audio perception
- Matlab programming
- DSP implementation issues
- technical writing/presentations
- Excellent communication skills.
- Team-oriented work ethic.
- Strong interest in new technologies
