Overview:

We are looking for a European Patent Attorney, who will be actively involved in evolving our European Patent Group, including significant drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications before the European Patent Office. This role will be reporting to the Legal Director of Patents for Europe.

The successful candidate will be a qualified European patent attorney responsible for supporting active research, development and licensing activities. He/She will have a deep understanding of complex technical improvements as well as significant expertise in analyzing and advising on third party patents and claims. The position will involve a significant amount of prosecution before the EPO, as well as capturing invention disclosures and interacting with experts in both technical and legal disciplines.

Responsibilities:
- Draft, file and prosecute patent applications before the EPO.
- Support development of internal systems and processes for managing European patent applications.
- Actively support generation and acquisition of important invention disclosures.
- Advise on the acquisition, development, and commercialization of third party technologies and related intellectual property matters.
- Advise on third-party patent claims against products and technologies.
- Support patent licensing and enforcement activities.
- Provide information and training to internal groups as required regarding patent protection procedures and programs.
- Provide other patent, licensing and intellectual property support as may be assigned.

Qualifications:
- Admission to practice before the European Patent Office
- Experience as a European patent attorney in industry or at a law firm.
- Engineering degree, preferrably advanced degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis on digital signal processing.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English
- Self-initiative and ability to work with minimum of direction under pressure.
- Superior organization and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.

Additional Desired Qualifications
- Engineering experience in digital signal processing, preferably audio or video coding.
- Experience with U.S. patent prosecution.
- Management of worldwide patent strategies.
